Christmas at the Airport

Jon spent Christmas at the Airport in 2009. Arriving at 6 a.m. on Dec. 18 and staying for 32 hours, he chronicled life at Halifax's international airport, taking a spiritual snapshot of the people passing through and incorporating their real stories into the fictional short story of Dave, who is spending his tenth straight Christmas at the airport.

Curious passengers stopped and shared stories ranging from an epiphany inspired by a 15-hour mediation to the joys of divorce. You can read the final story here.

The event was blogged and Twittered live, drawing media attention across Canada, the U.S. and the U.K.

After spending his 20s in Europe - and in airports - it was a chance for Jon to travel deep, rather than wide, and become the motionless part of the perpetual motion machine during the busiest weekend of the year.
