Christmas at the Airport

Special Projects

Jon decided to spend Christmas at the Airport in December 2009. The extreme writing project saw him take up a 32-hour posting as Writer in Residence at Halifax Stanfield International Airport starting early in the morning of Friday, Dec. 18. Using the fictional character Dave as his avatar, he wove the real-time, real-life stories of travellers passing through into his short story.

In the summer of 2009, Jon explored the backroads of Nova Scotia for the Chronicle-Herald in his 12-part Road Warrior series.

To mark the 90th anniversary of the Halifax Explosion in December 2007, Jon wrote a short story set in the disaster. It was later turned into the novel Black Snow.
